The Campaign Trail: alternative facts in action

The Campaign Trail

To be honest, the image pretty much says it all:

“Do you have what it takes to win a presidential election?
·         Select a year and candidate to find out
·         You will answer questions about your platform and positions, and also about your campaign strategy
·         The answers will affect your popularity for better or worse, both nationally and in individual states
·         Walk the fine line between appealing to your base and winning a majority of the votes”

In conclusion, this game is incredibly enjoyable as you have the chance to play with history and immediately see the consequences of your enacted changes. As we are in the era of “Alternative Facts”, this game is simply splendid.

The ReDitricting Game: fun and political equity in one neat game

The ReDistricting Game

Political equity can be hard to come by nowadays, and one of the practices that can make it even harder to achieve this is gerrymandering. This practice of questionable legality is done by dividing a population of a certain demographic and distributing them into congressional districts where they would be in a slight minority, effectively favoring the election of one party. This practice is not exclusive to one political party, but does hurt the health and spirit of the political process.

With regards to game itself, it can work on two levels: the first being the social and political awareness part where you get to see what gerrymandering is by the numbers, you are first taught how to do it before making you find a way to end it; and the second being the simple goal of completing a task, districting equality can be a bit tough but it’s very doable.

To all those politically savvy gamers looking for a game that will tickle your political bones, and those who simply wish to learn a thing or two about society, this is one for you.

TU-46: casual fun with light flying

TU-46

If you’re the type of person who casually fantasizes about airplanes, then this game is about as good as it gets when it comes to flying and landing planes in a browser game. The central objective is quite simple actually, take as much passengers as you can aboard a Tupolev aircraft to a selection of destinations without crashing.

At the start of the game you’d prioritize making money to buy upgrades, but after spending enough on improvements, your objectives would shift towards beating your “competition” in the leaderboard with regards to number of passengers delivered and number of crashes. The competition doesn’t have much of an effect on your operations as a pilot but surpassing them can give you some degree of satisfaction.

The multiple flights you’d be talking are fairly simple and easy, but you have to remain alert throughout the game because the plane’s engine can suddenly turn off causing you to lose a great deal of altitude, possibly leading to a crash. But as always, keep safe and enjoy!
