The
ReDistricting Game
Political
equity can be hard to come by nowadays, and one of the practices that can make
it even harder to achieve this is gerrymandering. This practice of questionable
legality is done by dividing a population of a certain demographic and
distributing them into congressional districts where they would be in a slight
minority, effectively favoring the election of one party. This practice is not
exclusive to one political party, but does hurt the health and spirit of the
political process.
With
regards to game itself, it can work on two levels: the first being the social
and political awareness part where you get to see what gerrymandering is by the
numbers, you are first taught how to do it before making you find a way to end
it; and the second being the simple goal of completing a task, districting
equality can be a bit tough but it’s very doable.
To
all those politically savvy gamers looking for a game that will tickle your
political bones, and those who simply wish to learn a thing or two about
